 Meta Verifiedの料金は月額11.99ドル（約1,600円。iOSアプリ経由の場合は14.99ドル）です。Metaは今週末から、まずオーストラリアとニュージーランドで同サービスの試運転を行うとしています。

Metaの最高経営責任者（CEO）であるマーク・ザッカーバーグ氏は新サービスMeta Verifiedを、自身のInstagram Broadcast Channels経由で発表しました。

このInstagram Broadcast Channelsも、現地時間2月16日に発表されたばかりの新機能で、Instagramのフォロワーに対してのみ、テキストや写真、動画などを直接送信できるというものです。
 
ブロードキャスト・チャンネルという名前が示す通り、これはクリエイターが多数のフォロワーを対象に一方的にコンテンツを公開する形式であり、フォロワーはリアクションしたり投票したりすることはできますが、コメントを投稿することはできません。
 
MetaはまずアメリカにおいてBroadcast Channelsを一部のクリエイターのみを対象に限定的に展開、順次利用可能なアカウント数を増やしていく計画です。また当初はInstagramのみですが、数カ月以内にMessengerとFacebookでもBroadcast Channelsが利用可能になるとしています。
 

 
今回発表されたMeta Verified、そしてBroadcast Channelsは、どちらもコンテンツ・クリエイターをターゲットとしていますが、別々のサービスであり、それぞれ支払いが必要になります。
SNSで広がるサブスク導入だが…
Metaの収益の柱は広告ですが、広告事業はプライバシー保護意識の高まり、新型コロナウイルス感染症、ロシアのウクライナ侵攻などのさまざまな要因に大きく左右されます。広告一辺倒ではなく、より安定したサブスクリプション収益に活路を求めるのも理解できます。
 
最近ではTwitterがTwitter Blueを導入したほか、Snapは2022年10月にSnapchat Plus（月額3.99ドル）を発表、TikTokも2022年にクリエイター向けにLive Subscriptionを開始しています。
 
BloombergはSNSにおけるサブスク導入について「Twitterの有料サブスクは登録者数がなかなか伸びていない。今までずっと無料だったものに、ユーザーが喜んでお金を払うかどうかが不明だ」と述べています。
